Lithium Battery Policy
RCTrim is a dealer for lithium technology batteries (LiPo and LiHV), and not a manufacturer. All warranty guarantees and warranty support is provided by the product's manufacturer.
RCTrim only sells lithium technology batteries approved by ROAR for competition.
Age Recommendation:
Lithium batteries are not intended for children under 14 years of age. These are not toys and must be handled with care by experienced users.
Handling and Storage
Do not modify, puncture, crush, or impact batteries or their components.
Never connect terminals directly with metal or conductive objects. Doing so may cause a short circuit, heat buildup, and risk of fire or explosion.
Do not store batteries loosely together. Terminal contact between batteries may result in a dangerous short circuit.
Avoid extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Do not store batteries in vehicles or other areas where temperatures exceed safe limits. Acceptable storage range is 40–120°F (4–49°C).
If batteries have been unused for over six months, verify voltage before use. Ensure a minimum voltage of 3V before attempting to charge.
Always disconnect batteries when not in use and store them in a non-conductive, fireproof container.
For optimal longevity, store batteries at approximately 50% of their rated capacity. (3.80v per cell LiPo / 3.85v per cell LiHV)
Before First Charge
Inspect the battery thoroughly for any damage, including loose wires, connectors, or swelling.
Confirm polarity before charging. Ensure the positive terminal is connected to the positive lead of the charger. Use a voltmeter if unsure.
Use a voltmeter to verify that the battery’s voltage matches the voltage listed on its label.
Charging & Discharging
Always refer to your specific charger's manual for complete instructions. The following safety measures must be observed:
Only use compatible lithium battery chargers with cell balancing capabilities.
Charge batteries in a fireproof container, such as a LiPo-safe charging bag, away from flammable surfaces or objects.
Never charge inside a model or vehicle.
Do not charge batteries that are hot to the touch (above 100°F) or cold (below 40°F).
Never leave charging or discharging batteries unattended or overnight.
Set your charger to the correct chemistry, voltage, cell count, and current rate as specified on the battery label.
Do not exceed a charging rate of 1C unless otherwise noted by the battery manufacturer or charger specifications.
Always verify the starting voltage of the battery before each charge session. Batteries with voltage below safe thresholds must not be charged.
Never overcharge batteries beyond their labeled capacity.
If your battery includes a cell balance lead, ensure it is properly connected before charging.
When using multi-port chargers, make sure the power and balance leads are connected to the same port/channel.
Do not discharge batteries above the maximum rated amperage or below their minimum rated voltage under load.
Ensure batteries do not exceed 160°F (71°C) during use. Proper cooling and ventilation are required for high-discharge applications.
Connectors & Power Draw
Your batteries may come with JST, EC3™, EC5™, or similar connectors designed for typical RC applications. However, power draw may exceed connector limitations in certain setups.
If you expect high power demands, upgrade your connector to a higher-rated alternative suitable for your system. It is your responsibility to ensure safe compatibility.
Additional Warnings & Safety Practices
Damaged or swollen batteries are unsafe. Do not touch until they have cooled. Dispose of them immediately and properly.
If a battery swells, leaks, overheats, or gets physically damaged, stop using it immediately. Disconnect it from any power source and move it to a safe area.
Dispose of batteries responsibly following local regulations.
In case of fire, only use a Class D dry chemical extinguisher and immediately contact emergency services.
After any crash, quickly and safely remove the battery and assess for damage before reuse.
If battery contents come into contact with skin or eyes, flush thoroughly with water and seek medical help immediately.
RCTrim is committed to your safety and performance. Always follow these guidelines and refer to your battery and charger manuals for additional product-specific instructions.
